For those of you who haven't been introduced to Darren Shan yet you don't know what you are missing! Now it is a horror and is quite gory so has a 12+ rating! Darren Shan has a way to root you to the spot. In one of the first chapters it describes to you what a beheaded body looks like (very usefull!) It is a very enjoyable book. However suggestive horror is alot more scary than gore because it is gorey book it is not as scary as it could be. However if I am reveiwing a horror book I can't resist saying this: Warning don't read after dark!
(Just noticed this is the picture of the audio book!)
My rating: 7/10
What the book is about: "Grubbs" Grady is about to discover what's worse than seeing your parents die. Seeing your parents die at the hands of demons. He has to run to the contryside and meet his uncle. It's safe there… Or is it? Well with a werewolf and a deadly game of chess (even when you're not that good at it.) Sounds funny? Well not when you might never be able to speak to your best freind (not to mention your uncle) again.
Sounds good. Well what you doing reading this pointless paragraph? Just go ahead and buy it.

I know the Vampire series by Darren Shan. Comparing the two series, it sounds like Lord Loss is darker. Is it more sophisticated a read, would you say? Do you think that this series should be recommended to more confident readers?
ReplyDeleteWell it depends on taste but as a rule the vampire series is more for 10+ because it isn't gory and are shorter books. The demonata are alot darker and more gory so 12+. But the vampire series is more of a drama. I think the demonata is for someone who has a good Reading ability but doesn't read often!
ReplyDeleteThanks. That's helpful.
